Adult 55+ Programs

The 55+ Team Welcomes you back!

There is an idea we keep close to our hearts at the 55+ Centre: Belonging to community enriches and supports us from infancy to old age. Seniors and Elders make our lives richer… and know a thing or two about life!

As we look to coming back together and sharing space, we thank you all—community, staff, Britannia Board and the unwavering volunteers, partner agencies, Elders, seniors and youth.

While we have faced challenges over the last two years, we have also stayed connected. We have leaned on one another, listening and supporting. We’ve been online in chatrooms and virtual classes; phone tree volunteers made weekly calls and packed and delivered food baskets; we came together online for cedar hat weaving; Quirk-e met virtually to continue writing zines; and our crafters, who share so much of their time and talents, reminded us that we are cared for.

We are a resilient community grateful to live, work, play and gather on these ancestral and unceded Coast Salish territorries of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō, səl̓ílwətaʔ (Tsleil-Waututh) and xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam) Nations. We are grateful to the Elders and their families who have shared with open hearts their stories, culture, visions and truths.

Through highs and lows we never could have imagined, it was a time we came together when so painfully, kept apart. Thank you.

Britannia’s Essential Services

Britannia Community Services Centre is here to support you as best we can. We are working to keep you safe and connected to community.  Our staff and volunteers are here to help.

Elders and Seniors Social Phone Tree
The Telephone Tree offers social support and information to seniors over the phone. Our volunteers make weekly social calls offering seniors a chance to be heard and maintain a sense of community. Volunteers can also provide you with information about programs and resources in the community, as well as referral services. It’s a great way to stay connected from your home.

If you would like to receive weekly calls you can contact us at 604.718.5837. You can also join our Facebook group Weaving Our Community Together @ Brit.
