Britannia would like to assist those who are not able to afford the advertised cost of certain recreation programs; at the same time, our operation needs to be financially viable. Click here for our Subsidy Policy.

Service Updates

What's happening at Brit - from COVID-19 safety to service changes.

Mask Mandate
The Provincial Health Officer has mandated that  masks are mandatory in all indoor public spaces, regardless of vaccination status. This includes community and recreation centres like Britannia. What does this mean for you? Masks must be worn by patrons 5 years of age and older in all of our facilities when not engaged in physical activity. Patrons must wear masks in change rooms and to and from the Pool, Rink, Fitness Centre and all other facilities. However, masks can be removed while participating in a sport or fitness activity. Masks must be worn on the pool deck until you are ready to enter the water. People who cannot wear a mask or who cannot put on or remove a mask without the assistance of others are exempt.

Pool and Fitness Centre Changes

Britannia has commenced drop-ins for our Pool and Fitness Centre; pre-registration is no longer required. Drop-ins are on a first-come first-serve basis. Registration will be required for classes like Aquafit (re-starting in October). We have two cleaning sessions per day in the Pool. Patrons must exit the facility during the cleaning sessions. To re-enter the facility, patrons will need to pay another entry fee.

Proof of Vaccination

The Province is launching the BC Vaccine Card, a one-page PDF with your name, confirmed vaccination status and a QR code. You can download a digital copy to your phone, print a paper copy, or order a copy over the phone. Starting on September 13, 2021, proof of vaccination will be required in B.C. for people attending designated indoor public settings, including some facilities and activities in community and recreation centres. For more information about proof of vaccination, including how to get your BC Vaccine Card, click here.
