Fronda

Oct 5, 2018 7:00 pm - Oct 5, 2018 9:00 pm
Location: CFEC, 1655 William St - 2nd Floor

FRONDA is a legally constituted non-profit entity whose aim is to give social power to art, to be deployed transversally among artists, experts, institutions, and the public. It develops transversal, interdisciplinary, intercultural projects of a Mexican as well as international character that promote the community purpose of art today, creating ties between artists, place, residents, geographic dimension, and memory.

FRONDA promotes values such as connections, alliances, collaboration, and shared well-being as starting points to foster contemporary art, understood as the guiding principle that contributes to modifying our surroundings, to enhance the quality of life of the community, the environment, and our role as citizens. It is the organizer of “Symbiosis, Interdisciplinary Art Encounter,” a platform open to all practices of knowledge, quests for convergence and divergence in universal and communal human knowledge, recognizing the differences in the other as we become that other, integrating interculturality, territory, and identity.

From 2010 to the present, it has undertaken activities in mines, theaters, art centers, institutes, universities, and public spaces; making it possible for processes, significant experiences, and acting as a catalyst encouraging the public participation of multiple audiences in our community. Symbiosis is composed of an artists’ residence program, a symposium with talks, lectures, interdisciplinary roundtables, workshops, and public presentations, as well as outreach activities with the community. From 2010 to the present it has conducted more than a hundred activities fostering exchange between artists and social actors not involved in art, such as researchers, biologists, geographers, artisans, therapists, gardeners, among others; in the process turning to diverse locations: theaters, art centers, institutes, universities, and public space.

Symbiosis are held in the city of Pachuca and in the town of Real del Monte, in the state of Hidalgo, Mexico.

FRONDA receives artists and specialists from all over the world, however it is characterized by generating exchanges between participants from Mexico and Canada.
