Subsidy Overview

All programs at Britannia are subsidized and the fees and charges are set at the lowest reasonable rate. Still, Britannia wants to support those who cannot afford the advertised cost of certain programs or activities. These initiatives can be found in the three following program areas:
  • Recreation and Community Education Courses A program subsidy can be made on many of our programs for residents of Grandview-Woodlands area by completing a “Request for Subsidy” form found at the Information Centre and/or Pool Cashier. Individuals can receive discounts on up to two courses per season.
  • Rink and Pool Activities Some free activities and sessions are offered at the rink, pool and fitness centre each week.
In addition, Vancouver residents who meet certain income guidelines can apply for the Leisure Access Program (LAP) that is honoured here and at other Vancouver Park Board rink and pools. The LAP entitles users to FREE swimming, ice skating and skate rentals, as well as 50% discount on fitness centre access and flexipasses, swim and skate lessons, and registered community centre programs. LAP info and applications are available online or in person at the Pool Cashier and/or Info Centre office.
  • Licensed Childcare The Provincial Government may help with the cost of fees where family income is low, on licensed childcare programs offered at Britannia and its affiliated child care centres. For further info call Enquiry BC at 604-660-2421 and ask for MHSD Child Care Subsidy.
