Sue Malcolm
Sue has taught guitar and singing for over twenty years to a wide range of age groups at the BC Bluegrass Workshop, the Georgia Strait Guitar Workshop, North Vancouver Recreation Commission, Coquitlam Continuing Education and Britannia Community Services Centre, as well as at festivals in BC, Alberta and Washington State.
Recognized for her ability to help beginners gain confidence and enjoy making music in a group setting, Sue developed the very popular Slow Pitch Jam method of teaching bluegrass jamming. For over ten years, her monthly jams at the ANZA Club, sponsored by the Pacific Bluegrass and Heritage Society have attracted crowds of faithful followers.
Sue sings and plays guitar in the Vancouver bluegrass band Highrise Lonesome. She has released three bluegrass CDs as well as three instructional songbooks with play-along CDs.
Sue also shares her musical talents with children in elementary schools as well as patients and families at Crossroads Hospice in Port Moody, where she is coordinator of music.
A strong belief in the power of music to enrich communities keeps Sue looking for new opportunities to involve and inspire others.
